Libya: British FM makes fun of dead bodies at conference

UK’s foreign minister Boris Johnson made news Tuesday disregarding dead bodies in Libya noting that the city of Sirte could become the next Dubai if authorities can clear dead bodies away, reports say.
Boris is known for controversial remarks made the comments during address to members of the Conservative party.
“The only thing they’ve got to do is clear the dead bodies away and then we will be there,” he said.
The remarks which sparked laugh among some activists of the party were quickly muted with the chair of the meeting saying “Next question”, reports say.
Johnson was in Libya in August pledging London’s support the fight against terrorism and illegal migration.
France and the UK spearheaded the NATO-backed revolution in the North African country in which former leader Muammar Gaddafi was ousted and killed.
The remarks drew condemnation outside and within the conservative party.
Damian Green, the first secretary of state noted that the Johnson’s remarks were unacceptable.
Sarah Wollaston, an MP of Johnson’s party also argued that the remarks were ‘crass and grossly insensitive.’ She also urged Johnson to apologize.
