Libya and Hungary move to revive diplomatic ties

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah engaged in high-level talks with Marcell Bíró, the National Security Adviser to the Hungarian Prime Minister, to explore pathways to deepen cooperation and formally restore diplomatic relations.

Bíró, who was accompanied by Hungary’s Special Envoy for Africa, met Dbeibah in Tripoli on Monday, November 17, to assess the current state of bilateral engagements and identify areas of mutual strategic interest.

The discussions, according to the Hakomitna communication platform, centered on mechanisms to revive full diplomatic representation, including the appointment of an ambassador, as a catalyst for expanded economic and investment collaboration.
Energy and related technologies featured prominently in the talks, reflecting the two nations’ intention to build a more dynamic and future-focused partnership.
