Libya: Deputy Prosecutors receive forensic training to strengthen criminal justice

Some 75 deputy prosecutors have undergone four specialized training courses, aimed at endowing the trainees with essential forensic medicine skills.

The courses were organized by the Criminal Research and Training Centre, part of its training program for the 2024–2025 judicial year.

The initiative is designed to improve judicial expertise by enhancing understanding of forensic sciences, thus strengthening the legal response at crime scenes.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office has emphasized that this training is crucial for improving the competence of prosecutors in handling criminal cases that require forensic analysis. The courses cover a wide range of forensic medicine topics, aimed at enhancing the ability of deputy prosecutors to evaluate evidence and collaborate with medical experts during criminal investigations.

In February, another group of Libyan deputy prosecutors attended a training session at the French School of Judiciary. The course focused on international cooperation in the fight against organized crime, offering participants the opportunity to learn from French legal experts about advanced investigative techniques and best practices in criminal justice. The Public Prosecutor’s Office has highlighted the importance of these international exchanges to improve Libya’s legal system and ensure prosecutors are better equipped to tackle complex criminal cases.
