Tunisia closes temporarily consulate in Tripoli over covid-19 contaminations

Tunisia has suspended work at its consulate in the Libyan capital of Tripoli for one week in a bid to curb covid-19 contaminations after several employees tested positive.

The mission said its premises will be closed from this Monday April 19 for one week in a move to prevent further contaminations.

It is the third Tunisian consulate in the world to be temporarily closed after those of Paris and Munich due to covid-19 contaminations.

Tunisia is currently struggling with a surge in contaminations. The country reported Saturday 1,514 contaminations and 66 deaths.

The new statistics bring infection toll to 285,490 while the deaths have hit 9,783.

The increase in numbers have led several countries to advise their citizens not to travel to the North African country.

Morocco has suspended all flights connections with Tunisia while the US Center for Disease Control, CDC, issued travel advisory urging US citizens to avoid traveling to the North African Country.
