Libya and Turkey Reactivate Joint Economic Committee

Libya and Turkey have revived their Joint Economic Committee by holding its 22nd meeting, the first session in 17 years. The minutes of the sssion were signed in Tripoli by Turkish Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar and Libya’s Minister of Transport Mohammed Al-Shuhoubi.

Minister Bayraktar said both countries committed to expanding and diversifying cooperation in oil and petroleum product trade between state-owned companies, within a broader energy partnership.

Discussions also focused on enhancing collaboration in Libya’s onshore and offshore energy sectors, as well as in renewable energy and mining. Turkey expressed its intent to transform the two nations’ long-standing historical ties into a mutually beneficial economic partnership, reaffirming Ankara’s support for Libya’s stability, development, and long-term prosperity.
