Morocco and Denmark have discussed at a meeting held Tuesday in Rabat several security issues of mutual interest and assessed the level of bilateral cooperation in combating cross-border criminal networks and the mobility of terrorist organizations at the regional and international levels.
The meeting between Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGSN-DGST), Abdellatif Hammouchi, and a Danish high-level security delegation led by Denmark’s Police Director and Head of the National Special Crime Unit Mikael Wern, also addressed strengthening coordination mechanisms in the areas of monitoring, prosecution, and extradition of individuals wanted internationally by both parties, the DGSN-DGST hub said in a statement.
The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to reaffirm the importance of promoting and strengthening security cooperation between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to establish an institutional and legal framework aimed at consolidating cooperation between Morocco’s National Security and Territorial Surveillance services and their Danish counterparts, particularly in the areas of expertise exchange, technical assistance, strengthening joint police training programs, and developing operational cooperation.
In this context, the two parties agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding soon as a reference framework for bilateral cooperation. This memorandum will serve as the basis for strong security cooperation, reflecting the growing importance of Morocco as a key and reliable partner within the international system for combating crime, terrorism, and extremism.
This meeting forms part of the DGSN and DGST services’ determination to strengthen their international partnerships with the security services of brotherly and friendly countries, as well as to open up to new international and regional partners, the statement said.
It also reflects the firm commitment of these services to international efforts aimed at neutralizing risks and threats to regional and international security.
