Libya’s Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi endorsed the National Charter for Reconciliation, marking a strategic milestone in the country’s pursuit of stability and social cohesion. The endorsement was made in Tripoli on Wednesday, in the presence of members of the Supreme Council for Peace and National Reconciliation and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya.
Menfi described the charter as the product of a sincere national endeavor, underscoring that Libya’s path to stability and progress lies in reconciliation, dialogue, tolerance, and prioritizing the national interest. He stressed that the signing signals the beginning of a new phase, requiring sustained and responsible action to translate the charter’s principles into tangible improvements in citizens’ daily lives.
He also announced his full support for the Supreme Council for National Reconciliation, tasking it with overseeing implementation, safeguarding continuity, and advancing social peace, justice, reparations, and trust among Libyans. In a symbolic move, Menfi declared 7 January an annual National Day for Peace and Reconciliation, framing reconciliation as a strategic, moral, and historical obligation to future generations.
