Morocco welcomes18 million tourists through November 2025, a historic number
Morocco received 18 million tourists during the first eleven months of 2025, a historic level that already surpasses the entire 2024 total with over 600,000 additional visitors, according to the Ministry of Tourism.
This exceptional performance confirms sector momentum, representing 13.5 percent growth compared to the same period last year. The ministry emphasized that this new record illustrates the relevance of strategic investments undertaken within the 2023-2026 roadmap framework, including strengthened air connectivity, international promotion, and tourism product enrichment and diversification.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor stated that these achievements reflect major advances recorded in recent years under King Mohammed VI’s leadership, alongside Morocco’s remarkable destination potential. “We are on the right trajectory to close the year strongly, particularly with AFCON organization suggesting an exceptional December,” she added.
The milestone demonstrates Morocco’s successful positioning across multiple international tourism rankings and publications throughout 2025. Cities including Marrakech, Fes, Rabat, and Taghazout received prominent recognition in global travel lists, while the kingdom earned “Destination of the Year” at the 2025 Travel Awards in Brussels.
Morocco currently ranks 13th globally in UN Tourism’s classification of destinations experiencing strongest international growth while leading all destinations across Africa and Middle East regions. The tourism sector’s contribution to national GDP strengthened from 6.8 percent to 7.3 percent in 2024, with tourism GDP registering 38.4 percent growth compared to 2019.
The approaching Africa Cup of Nations tournament in late December positions Morocco to further capitalize on tourism momentum, with anticipated additional visitor arrivals for the continental football championship. Government officials expect the sporting event to generate significant additional tourism revenue while showcasing the kingdom’s infrastructure development and organizational capacity ahead of 2030 World Cup co-hosting duties.
