Moroccan Nezha Hayat Elected Head of MENA Committee of International Organization of Securities Commissions
Nezha Hayat, Chairperson of Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC), has been elected Chair of Africa-Middle-East Regional Committee (AMERC) of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).
The IOSCO Regional Committee for Africa and the Middle East brings together the financial market regulators of the region, bearing the mission to examine, exchange information and promote issues specific to the development of capital markets.
AMERC is made of 28 members and 12 associate members, all representing regulators from Africa and Middle East region, meeting altogether the IOSCO standards.
Ms. Hayat has thus joined IOSCO Board of Directors for a two-year period (2020-2022). Set up in 1983, IOSCO, which is headquartered in Madrid, gathers authorities that regulate the world’s securities and futures markets.
It is tasked with promoting high standards of regulation to enhance investor protection and reduce systemic risk. It monitors global investment transactions across borders and markets.
