Libyan olive oil wins three international Awards

The Libyan Export Development Center announced on Wednesday January 1 that Libya secured three prizes in the Al-Ahram International Olive Oil Competition for 2025. A total of 193 olive oil samples from 20 countries participated in the competition.

According to the Center’s Facebook post, companies registered in the exporters’ registry won gold and silver medals. Al-Muzaraa Company, based in Al-Zawiya, earned the gold medal for its TOOR brand, while Al-Sahel Al-Muttahid Company from Maslata took home the silver medal.
The identity of the third prize winner was not disclosed.

This achievement adds to Libya’s growing reputation for high-quality, competitive olive oil, with the Center reiterating its commitment to supporting local products and expanding their presence in global markets.

The competition featured participants from seven European countries, six African countries, five Asian countries, and two South American nations, including Brazil and Argentina, alongside Egyptian companies.

Libyan olive oils have recently garnered international recognition, with awards in cities such as Miami, Athens, Geneva, Tokyo, Oslo, and Berlin. One brand, Libico olive oil, has begun exporting to Italy, though Libya’s lack of international accreditation has limited its ability to export larger quantities of olive oil.
