EU: Morocco, key partner in migration
The European Union regards Morocco as a “key” partner in migration and security matters, said on Monday Paraskevi Michou, Director General for Migration and Home Affairs at the European Commission.
“At the European Commission, we are committed to building a long-term relationship of trust with partner countries, including Morocco, which plays a key role in the areas of migration and security,” stressed Mrs Paraskevi.
“We must continue our relationship of trust with Morocco, our key partner, and support it further in its migration efforts,” underlined the European official during a meeting co-chaired by Morocco and Spain on migration issues.
Morocco was represented at this two-day meeting by a delegation, headed by Director of Migration & Border monitoring at the Ministry of Interior, Khalid Zerouali.
The meeting was held under the theme: “Cooperation between countries of origin, transit and destination in the field of border management”.
