Siemens Wins € 100 Mln Contracts In Libya

Siemens-HQGerman Siemens Company has won contracts worth 100 Million euro in Libya wherein the global energy corporation will provide services, carry out inspection and maintenance works in two power plants located in the cities of Khoms and Ruwais.
These contracts, awarded by the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL), will enable Siemens to overhaul and make a series of upgrades to both the Khoms Steam Power Plant and the Western Mountain Gas Turbine Power Plant in Ruwais. The projects are expected to ensure the continued safe, reliable and efficient operation of both power facilities.
Siemens, the global leader company in electronics and electrical engineering operating in the energy, infrastructure, industry and healthcare sectors, has been present in the North African country since 1957. It also had been tapped to carry out several infrastructure projects, including the power transmission and distribution network and the country’s TV centre in Tripoli.
“We are committed to supporting the reconstruction of Libya’s infrastructure” said Mr. Dietmar Siersdorfer, CEO, Siemens Energy for the Middle East, during contracts signing ceremony.
“Ensuring power plants continue to operate at their optimum is very important  for the country’s development”, he added, affirming that his company will contribute to the upgrading of the existing Libyan power infrastructures to enhance their performances to meet growing energy demands.
