The newly elected leadership of Libya’s High Council of State has held its first meeting in Tripoli, focusing on strengthening coordination, advancing political consultations and supporting efforts towards national elections.
The meeting, held on 30 July 2026, was chaired by Council President Dr Mohamed Takala and attended by First Deputy Speaker Naji Mukhtar, Second Deputy Speaker Omar Boushah, and Council Rapporteur Belkacem Dabrez.
The officials discussed the operational structure of the President’s Office, priorities for the coming phase, and several political and administrative matters. They also reviewed ways to improve coordination between the leadership and the Council’s various committees.
The meeting stressed the need to unify efforts and continue engagement with national stakeholders to promote consensus, create conditions for elections and support Libya’s political stability.
