Morocco’s King reiterates commitment to bolstering and deepening further the ties between Rabat and Washington

King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to President Donald Trump as the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4, an anniversary that also commemorates 250 years of strong and stable relations between the two nations.

“Morocco, the first State to recognize the independence of the United States of America, holds this distinguished and unique relationship in high esteem,” said the Monarch in his message, reiterating the unwavering commitment to move forward in bolstering and deepening the ties between the Moroccan and American nations.

The King affirmed in his message that these deeply rooted ties, based on values of deep friendship and loyalty, “have never been as rich and fruitful” as during the two terms of President Donald Trump, and recalled that the US President’s historic recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara “will remain etched in the memory of Moroccans from generation to generation…”

The Sovereign praised the level of trade and economic relations, which “have never been so strong,” and shared his confidence that relations between the two countries are moving toward their “best phase.”

The Sovereign also welcomed the security and military cooperation between Morocco and the USA as a “model of excellence ” and “a major pillar” for protecting both countries’ citizens, defending their shared values, and safeguarding their interests (…), and cited the African Lion exercise, hosted by Morocco.

The King concluded his message to the U.S. President by reiterating the unwavering commitment to move forward in bolstering and deepening the ties between the Moroccan and American nations.
