Arab & Islamic leaders laud Al Quds Committee contributions in support of Palestinian people
Arab and Islamic leaders have hailed the substantial support provided by Al Quds Committee, chaired by King Mohammed VI, to the Palestinian people, especially the Maqdissis.
The supportive stand comes in a resolution adopted by the joint Arab League and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit held Monday in Riyadh to discuss Israel’s ongoing wars in Gaza and Lebanon.
Head of Govt. Aziz Akhannouch represented King Mohammed VI at the Riyadh Summit. He was accompanied by foreign minister Nasser Bourita and several diplomats.
In his speech before the Summit, Akhannouch said King Mohammed VI places the Palestinian cause at the top of Morocco’s foreign policy, underlining the Monarch’s steadfast commitment to “continue to back constructive initiatives aimed at finding practical solutions, achieving a tangible and permanent ceasefire, and addressing the humanitarian situation.”
He also cited the Sovereign’s recent remarks saying that “the deteriorating conditions in the region require going beyond the logic of crisis management and seeking, instead, a final solution to this conflict”.
“If putting an end to the war in Gaza is an urgent priority, then this must be achieved concurrently with opening up political prospects conducive to a just and lasting peace in the region”, had said the King of Morocco, affirming that that security and stability in the region can be achieved only within the framework of the two-state solution, with Gaza an integral part of the territory of the independent Palestinian state, and East Jerusalem its capital.
As Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, the Sovereign had given his instructions to Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif Agency, the operational arm of the Al-Quds Committee, to deliver urgent humanitarian and medical aid to our Palestinian brothers in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Al-Quds Asharif, underlined Akhannouch, who pointed out that Morocco condemns the decision to end UNRWA’s activities.
The expansion of Israel’s operations to Lebanon shows that the whole region is heading towards escalation, said the Moroccan Prime Minister, noting that Morocco joins Arab and Islamic countries in expressing solidarity with Lebanon to preserve its sovereignty over all its territories, national unity, safety and stability.
