Ado Al-Hajji Abu, the Executive Secretary of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD) began Saturday November 25 work from the organization’s permanent headquarters in Tripoli, in Libya.
Ado Al-Hajji Abu was received by the Minister of Youth, the Prime Minister’s envoy to Africa, Fathallah El-Zeni, and a number of directors of departments and offices in the Ministries of Labor and Foreign Affairs, Libya Observer reports.
The Cen-Sad Secretary General and his delegation are scheduled to attend this Monday November 27 the work of the Conference of Labor Ministers in Tripoli.
The two-day Conference will discuss the establishment of a database and information that includes developing an action plan to enhance cooperation between the Sahel and Sahara countries, establish ways of peace and security in the region, and a number of related files, the Libyan media notes.
The CEN-SAD is the largest grouping in Africa, and includes more than half of the member States of the African Union.
Created in 1998, the CEN-SAD is made of 29 African countries. The grouping aims at creating a free trade area within a region of Africa. President of the Libyan Presidential Council (PC), Mohamed al-Menfi in March 2022 welcomed the final arrangements for the return of the organization to its headquarters.
