Chad: Two Ministers including Defense minister step down

Chad’s Ministers of Defense and Bilingualism Promotion respectively Gen. Daoud Yaya Brahim and Haliki Choua Mahamat have tendered in their resignation to the Transitional Prime Minister Saleh Kebzabo, local media ‘Alwihda Info’ has reported.
Choua, the media notes resigned Tuesday October 17. The General on the other hand stepped down Wednesday October 18.
“I wanted to inform you personally of an important decision I have just taken. After careful consideration, I have decided to tender my resignation from the government, and I am pleased to announce that the Prime Minister has accepted it”, Choua said on Facebook after his move.
The media argues that the emergence of some private videos on social media ignited their resignations.
The two ministers have been named in a sex tape scandal. Kebzabo has reportedly accepted their resignations. Paris-based media ‘Jeune Afrique’ reports that the Prime Minister and the Transition leader Mahamat Idriss Deby Itno advised the two government officials to set down to save the face of the Transition.
The scandal comes as black spot on the transition that is inching towards its end. The country is set to go to presidential polls in one year to wrap up the transition.
