Tunisia: Media tycoon sentenced to three years in prison for involvement in deadly road accident

A court in Tunisia has ordered the arrest of Abdelhamid Ben Abdallah, a businessman and owner of a private television after his condemnation to three years in prison in a trial for involuntary homicide.

The arrest warrant came from the Court of appeal of the Nabeul, a coastal town located in northeastern Tunisia.

Abdelhamid Ben Abdallah was sentenced in absentia to three years in prison on charges of involuntary homicide in connection to a road accident that occurred in July 2020. He jammed another car causing the death of six people inside the vehicle. He was first, in September in the year of the tragedy, arrested but was set free in November. A court decision later sentenced him in absentia to three years in prison.
