Senegal, Germany ink agreements for vaccine production
Senegal and Germany signed Thursday two financial agreements for the production of vaccine in the West African country, Senegalese state-run news agency APS reports.
The agreements namely financial cooperation agreement and a financial aid contract, were signed by Oulimata Sarr, Senegal’s Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation and Karl von Klitzing, Director Senegal Office of the German Private banking company KFW.
Per the financial aid contract deal, the European country will provide Senegal €20 million to produce vaccine. The West African country, Sarr indicated, aims to achieve health and pharmaceutical sovereignty, with autonomy in the production of high-quality medicines, vaccines, and medical products.
Karl von Klitzing stressed that the “German cooperation, the starting point and heart of the project lies in Senegal’s vaccine sovereignty.”
