Rabat Decries Israeli Police Raid on Al Aqsa Mosque

The Moroccan Government has strongly condemned the Israeli forces raid on Al Aqsa Mosque, third holiest site in Islam, denouncing the violent attack of worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Morocco, whose King Mohammed VI chairs Al Quds Committee, stresses the need for the respect the legal, religious and historical status of Al Quds and the Holy Places and to avoid all practices and violations that undermine chances of peace in the region, said a press release issued Wednesday by the Foreign ministry.
“Morocco reiterates its rejection of such practices, which only complicate and inflame further the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories, undermining the efforts to ease tensions and restore confidence”, added the statement.
At least 152 Palestinians were injured in clashes with Israeli police inside Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa mosque compound on Friday, the latest outbreak in a recent upsurge of violence that has raised fears of a slide back to wider conflict.
