World Cup 2022: Moroccan squad unveiled
The national coach Walid Regragui unveiled, Thursday, the list of 26 players selected to play the World Cup-2022 in Qatar.
Regragui unveiled its list in live streaming, via the website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation “www.frmf.ma” as well as on the official YouTube channel of the Federation.
The list includes 3 Goalkeepers, namely Yassine Bounou (FC Sevilla/Spain); Munir Mohamedi El Kajoui (Al Wehda/Saudi Arabia); and Ahmed Reda Tagnaouti (Wydad Casablanca).
The team’s defenders are Achraf Hakimi (PSG/France); Noussair Mazraoui (Bayern Munich/Germany); Nayef Agred (West Ham United FC/UK); Romain Saiss (Besiktas/Turkey); Achraf Dari (Stade Brestois/France); Jawad El Yamiq (Real Valladolid/Spain); Yahya Attiat Allah (Wydad Casablanca); and Badr Benoun (Qatar SC/Qatar).
Sofyan Amrabet (Fiorentina/Italy); Abdelhamid Sabiri (Sampdoria/Italy); Selim Amallah (Standard de Liège/Belgium); Azzedine Ounahi (Angers/France); Bilal El Khannouss (KRC Genk/ Belgium); and Yahya Jabrane (Wydad Casablanca) form the Midfielders’ list.
As to the list of forwards, it includes Hakim Ziyech (Chelsea/UK); Sofiane Boufal (Angers/France); Amine Harit (Olympique de Marseille/France); Abdessamad Ezzalzouli (Osasuna/Sapin); Zakaria Aboukhlal (Toulouse/France); Ilyas Cahiir (Queens Park Rangers/UK; Youssef En-Nesyri (FC Sevilla/Spain); Walid Cheddira (Bari/Italy) and Abderrazak Hamed-Allah (Al-Ittihad/Saudi Arabia).
Coach Walid Regragui underlined afterwards the great ambitions of the Atlas Lions at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar which will take place from November 20 to December 18.
“We want to accomplish something big at the World Cup,” he said in a brief statement broadcast live, adding that he and the staff worked a lot on this list which is “the best possible to defend the national colors”.
As part of preparations for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, the national team will face its Georgian counterpart in a friendly match on November 17 in the United Arab Emirates.
During the final phase of the World Cup-2022, the Atlas Lions will evolve in group F, alongside Belgium, Croatia and Canada.
