Bahrain to launch first home-made satellite in December 2023

Bahrain will launch its first 100 percent locally-built satellite by the end of December 2023, the commander of the royal court announced Sunday, Arab News reports.
Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad Al-Khalifa indicated that a group of Bahraini youth who are qualified in the field of space science and technology will contribute to building the satellite.
The royal court official also noted that the plan ‘confirms Bahraini youth’s excellence in various fields, and reflects their national spirit, determination and resolve to achieve everything that would enhance Bahrain’s status’, the media reports.
The National Space Science Agency’s (NSSA) of the Gulf country is in charge of the project which is part of its new strategy that begins with the launch of the first Bahraini satellite and ends in 2028.
