North African nations book place in playoffs of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup
Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt have advanced to the third and last round of qualifying for the 2022 World Cup to be held in Qatar.
The four football names in the region topped their respective groups – underlining their dominion on football on the continent.
Morocco earlier booked its place before the November fixtures. Algeria however had to wait till Tuesday to advance after a drew with Burkina Faso at home and took the lead of group A.
Tunisia also had to overcome Zambia at home to advance. The side did the job as they got their Southern African opponent 3-1.
The four countries will wait for the December draw in Qatar to know their respective opponent for March 2022 two-legged matches.
Morocco, Tunisia and Algeria, among five best ranked African football nations per FIFA October ranking will struggle with other qualified nations namely Ghana, Egypt, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon. Senegal and Nigeria also qualified, completed the FIFA October ranking in Africa.
