Morocco & China Customs Agree to Facilitate Procedures to Boost Economic Cooperation & Trade Exchanges

Moroccan and Chinese Customs administrations have signed lately three cooperation agreements to enhance further trade exchanges and economic ties between the two countries.

They agreed to provide mutual administrative assistance and recognize the two countries’ Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program, an international certification proving that a business customs controls comply with rules and standards set by the World Customs Organization (WCO).

They also pledged to foster cooperation between the Customs of the port of Casablanca and the port of Ningbo.

The first agreement sets the legal framework for the exchange of information and cooperation in the fight against customs fraud, underbilling and false declarations.

The second agreement aims to speed up the processing of export-import operations of Moroccan & Chinese companies with OEA status, while the third seeks to modernize procedures, improve risk management and training of port’s customs agents.

These agreements are in line with the decisions made during the 7th meeting of the Moroccan-Chinese joint commission for economic, commercial and technical cooperation convened last year in Beijing.
