Military officials from Sudan and Libya have agreed to strengthen security cooperation and intelligence sharing following high-level talks held in Tripoli on April 5, 2026. The meeting brought together Libya’s Chief of General Staff, Salahuddin al-Namroush, and Sudan’s Director of Military Intelligence, Mohamed Ali Sabir. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral security ties, improving coordination along shared borders, and expanding military training and expertise exchange.
Libyan officials emphasised the historical relationship between the two countries, noting that closer cooperation is vital for regional stability. Both sides agreed on mechanisms to boost information exchange and address cross-border security challenges.
The talks come amid ongoing tensions linked to Sudan’s internal conflict, with the Sudanese Armed Forces accusing eastern Libyan commander Khalifa Haftar of supporting the Rapid Support Forces through arms transfers and logistical backing—allegations that have heightened regional security concerns.
