Libya: Buraq Air Signs Deal with Airbus for 10 A320neo Jets to Modernise Fleet
Libya’s first private airline, Buraq Air, has signed a MoU (Memorandum of understanding) with Airbus to purchase 10 A320neo aircraft, marking the carrier’s debut as an Airbus customer.
The announcement was made on Wednesday, November 19 by Airbus.
The agreement was formalised at the Dubai Airshow by Fouzi Almiqalh, General Assembly President of Buraq Air, and Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales for Commercial Aircraft. Almiqalh said the deal will modernise Buraq Air’s fleet, expand its network, and enhance service in partnership with Medsky Airways.
Airbus highlighted the A320 Family as the world’s most popular single-aisle aircraft, offering at least 20% fuel savings and CO₂ reduction compared with previous generations, while supporting operations with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
The A320neo Family, which includes the long-range A321neo, has accumulated over 11,300 orders from 150 customers globally. Airbus confirmed it will continue supporting Buraq Air’s strategic growth and fleet modernisation plans.
