Benin, Sri Lanka waive visa requirement for diplomats
Benin and Sri Lanka have sealed a deal to scrap visa requirements for holders of diplomatic passports from both countries as part of efforts to bolster ties in many areas including politics, economy, culture and tourism.
Shegun Adjadi and Ali Sabry respectively top diplomats from Benin and the Asian country inked the deal.
The deal came following bilateral conversation between Benin’s Vice President Mariam Chabi Talata and Sri Lanka’s President, on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Summit in Uganda (January 19 to 20), media reports, citing the LinkedIn page of the Adjadi’s department, said.
The diplomatic agreement will allow holders of diplomatic passports of both countries to pay 30-day visits visa-free. Talata and Ranil Wickremesinghe discussed ways to deepen ties in areas including politics, economy, culture and tourism, “24 Heures Au Benin” reports citing the Foreign ministry.
The two countries established diplomatic ties in 2012.
