Cameroon Recognizes Morocco’s Sovereignty over Sahara

Cameroon has renewed its firm backing and constant recognition of Moroccan sovereignty over its Sahara during a meeting held lately in Yaoundé between Cameroonian officials and a Moroccan MP delegation.

The Moroccan delegation, led by deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohamed Ouzzine, had talks with Speakers of Cameroon’s Senate and National Assembly, Marcel Niat Njifenji, and Djibril Cabye Sidibe, and with several cabinet members of this African country.

“Cameroon has reiterated its support to Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces,” said Ouzzine in Yaoundé

Moroccan-Cameroonian talks, which focused on cooperation prospects between the two countries and economic partnership, were held on the sidelines of the meeting of the Pan-African Parliament (PAP) convened in Cameroon’s Capital Aug.23-27.

The Pan African Parliament was established as an organ the African Union (AU) in order to ensure the full participation of African peoples in the development and economic integration of the continent.

Its ultimate goal is to evolve into an institution with full legislative powers, whose members are elected by universal suffrage. The PAP seeks to facilitate the effective implementation of the policies and objectives of the AU and promote the principle of human rights and democracy in Africa.

It encourages good governance, transparency and accountability in member States. It seeks also to promote peace, security and stability in the continent.

The PAP endeavors to contribute to a more prosperous future for the peoples of Africa by promoting collective self-reliance & economic recovery, enhancing inter-African cooperation and strengthening solidarity among Africans.
