A Tunisian Court has sentenced on July 7 lawyer and former presidential candidate Samir Abdeli to 18 years in prison in a case handled by the Criminal chamber specializing in terrorism-related offenses at the Tunis Court of First Instance.
The ruling also affected people close to Abdeli, with his personal driver receiving a three-year prison sentence and his personal Secretary sentenced to two years.
The Convictions followed a security and judicial investigation, with prosecutors accusing Abdeli and others of offenses related to national security, including allegations of conspiring against the internal and external security of the State.
