Mohammed Al-Menfi has met with leaders and representatives of several Libyan political parties in Tripoli as part of renewed efforts to strengthen national consensus and advance the country’s stalled political transition.
The meeting, held on Wednesday, May 20, focused on ways to safeguard the political process and accelerate preparations for consensual national elections aimed at ending Libya’s prolonged transitional period and consolidating state stability and institutional unity.
Discussions centered on recent political developments, conditions needed to ensure the success of the next phase, and the importance of maintaining Libyan ownership of the political process while expanding political and partisan participation.
Al-Menfi commended the work of the joint 6+6 Committee—comprising representatives from the House of Representatives and the High Council of State—for drafting electoral laws for parliamentary and presidential elections. He also acknowledged contributions from the advisory committee reviewing the legislation to enhance consensus and fairness.
At the end of the meeting, participating political parties issued a joint statement outlining principles aimed at reinforcing political legitimacy, unifying state institutions, and supporting a peaceful democratic transition.
The statement emphasized the need for broader national dialogue and inclusive participation as essential steps toward building a stable, unified state capable of reflecting the democratic will of its people.
