Libya and Germany held a meeting in Tripoli on Sunday to discuss means of strengthening investment cooperation and expanding economic relations between the two countries.
The meeting, held on the eve of the fifth edition of the Libyan-German Forum scheduled for May 19–20 in Tripoli, gathered Minister of Economy and Trade Suhail Abu Shiha and Germany’s Ambassador to Libya, Ralph Tarraf. It reviewed trade performance, investment trends and opportunities for deeper bilateral partnership.
The talks also focused on mechanisms to activate existing economic cooperation agreements, improve coordination between institutions in both countries, and address operational challenges facing German companies active in the Libyan market. The two sides explored strategies to enhance the business environment in Libya, with a view to encouraging long-term investment and facilitating the transfer of expertise and technology.
Minister Abu Shiha highlighted the importance of the upcoming Libyan-German Forum, describing it as a key platform for strengthening private sector engagement and unlocking new opportunities in energy, industry, services and technology.
The fifth edition of the Libyan-German Forum is scheduled for May 19–20 in Tripoli, bringing together officials, investors and representatives from major German companies for bilateral business discussions and partnership-building sessions.
The event is expected to further consolidate economic ties and support broader efforts to position Libya as an emerging destination for international investment.
