Moroccan Police arrest INTERPOL-wanted Dutch national of Egyptian origin
Police officers of the town of Guercif arrested, on Monday, a 63-year-old Dutch national of Egyptian origin, who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by German judicial authorities.
A check of the database of the International Criminal Police Organization “INTERPOL” revealed that the suspect was wanted internationally under an arrest warrant issued by the national central office “Wiesbaden” in Germany, on suspicion of heroin trafficking, said a security source.
The suspect was placed in police custody before being referred to the relevant public prosecutor’s office, while Interpol office in Rabat of the General Directorate of National Security was entrusted with notifying its German counterpart of the arrest awaiting the extradition procedure.
This operation is part of the Moroccan security services’ commitment to implementing international security cooperation mechanisms, including the search for and arrest of individuals wanted internationally in cases linked to transnational crime.
