African Union Seeks Morocco’s Military Experience for Peace in Continent

African Union Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security Bankole Adeoye has conferred lately in Rabat with senior officers of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) on cybersecurity and joint African military exercises to strengthen coordination, readiness and interoperability.

They also discussed ways of strengthening African capacities against digital threats, says a statement the issued Royal Armed forces. The visit of AU Commissioner for Peace & Security to Morocco confirms the Kingdom’s position as a strategic partner in the continent and shows the African Union’s drive to advance military cooperation with Rabat to counter security challenges and foster stability across the continent.

Morocco will host the 1-st U.S training center for African drone operators. The center will enable trainees to identify pressing security problems and bring to bear a wide range of assets to solve the problems. It will also serve as a platform for the exchange of experiences and solutions adapted to African realities.

The US Army has introduced unmanned aerial system (UAS) training during the African Lion 2026 military exercise which started with academic courses at Southern Zone Headquarters, in Agadir, Morocco.

These classes prepare multinational service members to use unmanned aerial systems, cyberspace defenses and satellite operations before they head into simulated combat. Advanced courses are expanding into emerging domains, including space, electromagnetic warfare and cyberspace.
