Morocco’s national dam filling rate rose sharply reaching 70.3% as of 27 February, up from 61.6% at the start of the month, according to data from the water ministry.
Total stored volumes increased from 10.3 billion cubic meters on 1 February to 11.7 billion cubic meters, a gain of 1.4 billion cubic meters in 27 days.
The Loukkos basin recorded the highest levels nationally with a 95% filling rate and 1.8 billion cubic meters, with several reservoirs reaching full capacity.
The Sebou basin followed with 85.2% and 4.7 billion cubic meters, boosted by Morocco’s largest dam the Al Wahda at 88% (3.1 billion m³) and Idriss I at 84% (955.5 million m³).
In the Bouregreg basin, filling reached 94.5%, supported mainly by the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah dam at 95% (935.2 million m³).
The Tensift basin posted 86.5% and the Moulouya basin with 63.9%. Some basins remained below the national average such as Oum Er Rbia stood at 49.9%, the Guir‑Ziz‑Rheris basin reached 59.7%, while Souss Massa stood at 54.4%.
