Moroccan-French Joint Military Commission Assesses Cooperation Results, Agrees on 2026 Program

The Moroccan-French Joint Military Commission, which held its 23rd meeting in Paris December 9 – 10, assessed the results of cooperation in 2025 and agreed on the activities to be included in the 2026 cooperation program.

During the meeting, co-chaired by the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and Commander of the South Zone, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, and the Chief of France’s Defense Staff, Air Force General Fabien Mandon, both sides commended the excellence of Moroccan-French military cooperation and its positive results, particularly in 2025, while underscoring the importance of expanding the exchange of experience and expertise to other areas of common interest, the FAR General Staff said in a statement.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for both parties to agree on the activities to be included in the 2026 cooperation program.

The meeting of the Moroccan-French Joint Military Commission, an important milestone in the strategic dialogue between the two armies, aims to develop mutually beneficial cooperation and align strategic approaches to security and technological challenges. It also seeks to strengthen bilateral military cooperation in various fields, notably joint training and capacity-building, the statement said.

The meeting took place in a context marked by renewed momentum between the two countries and reflects the shared ambition expressed by King Mohammed VI and President Emmanuel Macron during the historic visit he paid to Rabat in 2024, the statement added.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid received the insignia of Commander of the Legion of Honor.

This insignia was presented on behalf of the President of France by Air Force General Fabien Mandon, during an official ceremony attended by senior civilian and military figures.

During the ceremony, Major General Mohamed Abbar, Inspector of the FAR Military Health Service, and Air Force Major General Fouad Moumen, Chief of the 4th Office of the FAR General Staff, were awarded the National Order of Merit Medal (Officer Grade).

These decorations are in recognition of their efforts to develop bilateral military relations under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
