Libya: Audit Bureau approves $2.3 billion family support grants
The Libyan Audit Bureau has granted approval for the distribution of family support grants for the fourth quarter of 2024, following a thorough examination of data provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs. The total amount authorized for disbursement is $2.3 billion (1.15 billion Libyan dinars). The funds are set to benefit thousands of individuals, as part of ongoing Government efforts to provide financial assistance to families in need.
The review process involved verifying crucial beneficiary information, such as national ID numbers, registration details, and dates of birth, ensuring the accuracy of the records. The disbursements will be made across three categories: 25,774 individuals are eligible for single-month payments of $5.2 million (2.57 million dinars), 25,374 recipients will receive two-month payments totalling $10.3 million (5.07 million dinars), and the largest group of 3.82 million beneficiaries will receive three-month payments amounting to $2.29 billion (1.14 billion dinars).
In line with the Bureau’s oversight, all recipient information has been cross-checked with the Civil Status Authority to prevent any duplication of payments. However, before the funds are fully disbursed, the Bureau has mandated the verification of beneficiaries’ bank account details against official family records. Any discrepancies or incomplete information will result in the exclusion of affected accounts from the payment process.
