Tunisia extends state of emergency until end of 2024
Tunisia has extended until December 31, 2024 the state of emergency in place since 2015 in the wake of a terrorist attack that killed 13 people most of whom were security forces.
A communique published Tuesday January 30 in the official gazette said the measure, which grants security and armed forces sweeping power, has been extended until December 31, 2024.
The latest extension was to end on January 30.
Tunisia first issued the measure in 2015 after terror attack against a vehicle of the National Guard killed 13 onboard the coach.
The attack was preceded by two attacks that killed dozens of other people mostly foreign tourists.
