Morocco: International network involved in Illegal migration, human trafficking dismantled in Salé
An international network involved in organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking was dismantled Saturday by officers of the provincial judicial police of Salé, on the basis of accurate information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance.
The investigation into this case led to the arrest of four individuals, including a foreign national of Turkish nationality, presumed to be involved in organizing illegal immigration operations, a security source said.
Ongoing security operations have also led to the arrest of thirty would-be illegal immigrants from India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The suspects and would-be illegal immigrants were subjected to a judicial investigation to determine the ins and outs of this case and identify its possible links and ramifications on a national and international scale.
The same day, a coastal surveillance unit intercepted an inflatable boat off Dakhla. The boat was carrying 108 Sub-Saharan would-be irregular migrants, including 28 minors, a woman, and a young girl, according to a press release from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The boat sailed from the Mauritanian coast and intended to reach the Canary Islands, the press release said. The rescued individuals received the necessary care before being handed over to the Royal Gendarmerie for the usual administrative procedures.
These security operations are part of the intensive efforts deployed by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance to combat international networks involved in organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking.
