Morocco, Germany sign agreement to implement 2nd Phase of agricultural & forestry Dialogue

Morocco and Germany signed, Saturday in Berlin, an agreement to implement the second phase of the “Agricultural and Forestry Technical Dialogue” (DIAF) project, as part of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The agreement, signed on the sidelines of the Berlin International Green Week, focuses on organic production and exchanges between the two countries in the fields of science, innovation, and sound agricultural practices.

It also provides for the setting up of a joint technical working group to deepen and broaden bilateral cooperation in the future.

The meeting was an opportunity for both parties to address extremely important issues concerning the food system, sustainability, and agriculture.

German Minister of Agriculture and Food Cem Özdemir, who initialed the agreement along with Minister of Agriculture and Forests Mohammed Sadiki, described relations with Morocco as “very important.” The agreement will raise the level of bilateral partnership and exchange knowledge in the field of organic production, the German official said.

The DIAF project has three components: promotion of organic farming; professionalization of professional agricultural and forestry organizations (OPAF), and improved planning and control in the forestry sector.

Earlier Saturday, Sadiki had held talks with Italy’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty, Francesco Lollobrigida, on ways of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.

On Friday, he conferred with Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Côte d’Ivoire, Kobenan Kouassi Adjoumani, on ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the agricultural sector.
