Cape Verde Says Morocco’s Autonomy Plan Offers Realistic Solution to Sahara Issue

The Republic of Cabo Verde has reaffirmed its steadfast support to Morocco’s territorial integrity and the Moroccan autonomy plan offering a realistic solution to the Sahara regional conflict.
The support stand comes in a joint press release issued Tuesday in Rabat following the 2nd meeting of the Morocco-Cape Verde cooperation commission held under co-chairmanship of the two countries foreign ministers, Nasser Bourita and Rui Alberto de Figueiredo Soares.
The top diplomat of Cape Verde renewed on this occasion his country’s attachment to the UN exclusive framework for reaching a realistic, practical and lasting solution to the Sahara dispute.
Mr. Soares also affirmed that the opening of a Cape Verde Consulate General in the Moroccan Saharan city of Dakhla in June 2022, is a recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara.
The meeting of the Moroccan-Cape Verdan joint commission was crowned with the signing of nine cooperation agreements aimed at boosting investment, strengthening economic & commercial ties, partnership in renewable energies, housing & sustainable development, youth promotion and women’s empowerment.
