Morocco signs gas supply deal with Chariot Oil & Gas

Chariot Oil & Gas, Africa focused transition energy company, signed a deal with the Moroccan government to supply gas to the country from the Anchois project.

The agreement, signed with Morocco’s Ministry of Industry, Trade and Green and Digital Economy, reflects Rabat’s support of Chariot’s gas development project as potentially providing significant volumes to Morocco’s gas market.

The Ministry is actively promoting use of natural gas extracted in Morocco to help the Kingdom fulfill goals for industrial development, decarbonization of its economy, diversification of its energy mix, and reduced dependence on imported fuels, the company said.

The deal is poised to pave the way for similar supply agreements with other ministerial departments, it said.

Anchois is located off the Atlantic coast and contains audited resources of more than 1 tcf, sampled as 97% methane, without impurities, and contained in good-quality porous and permeable sandstone reservoirs.
