Morocco extends night curfew for one more week

Morocco has extended the anti-coronavirus restrictive measures for one more week as it still waits for the launch of a mass vaccination campaign.

The measures include a night curfew, closure of restaurants at 20:00 and maintenance of ban on public gatherings.

The government said that the extension of the measures aimed at containing the outbreak of the virus notably after the spread of a new variant of the coronavirus in neighboring countries.

On Jan 12, Morocco reported 801 cases bringing total number of infections to 453,789 including 427,351 recoveries and 7,784 deaths.

 

So far, 1045 people are in critical health condition, including 76 under artificial respiration.

Morocco has approved AstraZeneca and has ordered 66 million doses including from China’s Sinopharm but has not received any yet.
