Morocco Reaffirms Support to Yemen’s Unity and Sovereignty

Morocco has reiterated its unwavering support to the unity and sovereignty of Yemen and to the security of its territories.

The supportive stand was voiced by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita during a phone call Friday with his Yemeni peer Afrah Al-Zouba.

During the talks, Bourita also expressed backing to the Presidential Council and the legitimate Yemeni government and emphasized Morocco’s support for Yemen, its right to protect its safety and territorial integrity and to confront threats. Morocco also backs any measure capable of strengthening State institutions and ensuring security and stability in Yemen and the region, Bourita Said.

During the call, the Yemeni minister briefed Bourita on the latest developments in her country, in light of the recent escalation by Houthi terrorist militias along the western coast and at Bab al-Mandeb, and affirmed the Yemeni State’s right and its constitutional and sovereign responsibility to protect its citizens and secure its coasts, ports, and territorial waters.

According to the Yemeni news agency SABA, Afrah Al-Zouba praised Morocco for its unwavering and brotherly stance in support of Yemen’s constitutional legitimacy, unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. She also praised Morocco’s contribution, following the Houthi coup against State institutions, within the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy led by Saudi Arabia, as well as its steadfast stance in support of the State and its institutions.

The two officials also discussed means of bolstering bilateral relations, activating cooperation framework between the two countries, as well as recent developments in Yemen and issues of mutual interest.

According to the news agency, the Yemeni official also commended the support and assistance provided by Morocco to the Yemeni people, particularly through student scholarships.

Bourita extended an invitation to the Yemeni official to visit Morocco as part of ongoing efforts to foster dialogue, coordination, and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
