Morocco: seizure of 20 kg of gold plates, over €2 million in Oujda (DGSN)
The Moroccan national police in Oujda, eastern Morocco, seized, Friday evening, 20 kg of gold plates and nearly €2.500 million supposedly coming from criminal activities.
In a press release, the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) indicates that the research and investigations carried out in this case made it possible to arrest four individuals for their alleged links with these criminal acts and to seize five cars and 12 gold ingots, weighing 20 kg, 110,000 dirhams, as well as €2,489,870. Investigations are carried on to determine the origin of this sum of money and the ins and outs of the case.
The four suspects were placed under police custody, while the research and investigations are continuing to arrest the rest of the accomplices, including suspects who refused to comply and opted for violence against public officials during the exercise of their missions. The police officers were chasing a fifth suspect, said the DGSN.
