Secretary general of the United Nations Antonio Guterres has expressed admiration for role played by Moroccan diplomacy under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, both within the United Nations and on the international scene, describing this role as active, elegant and determined.
The admiration was voiced by the UN Chief during a meeting he held in New York on Wednesday with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita.
During this meeting, the UN Secretary General asked Bourita to convey to the Monarch his fraternal and respectful greetings, as well as his admiration for Morocco’s commitment to multilateralism and for its courageous positions in defense of the three pillars of the United Nations, even in complex situations.
Noting that the world is going through difficult times, with worsening crises and widening wars, Guterres pointed out that Morocco, fortunately, is doing well thanks to the leadership of the King.
During the meeting, Bourita conveyed to the UN Chief the King’s friendly greetings as well as His high appreciation for the cooperation which has marked relations between Morocco and the United Nations during his two mandates as UN Secretary General, since 2016.
