Mauritania and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to strengthen security cooperation in combating narcotics and psychotropic substances.
The agreement followed talks in Abu Dhabi between Chairman of the UAE’s National Drug Enforcement Authority, Zayed bin Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nahyan and visiting Director General of Mauritania’s Security, General Mohamed Ould El Hreïtani.
According to the Mauritanian Police, discussions focused on improving coordination and exchanging intelligence and expertise between the two countries’ specialized Agencies.
The officials also examined emerging methods used by criminal networks and emphasised the need for continued information-sharing to improve joint operations and reduce the risks associated with drug-related crime.
