Morocco was the guest of honor at the third edition of the Women, Innovation and Sustainable Development Summit, known as WISS LATAM, held August 26 and 27 in Panama City with participants from Panama and several Latin American countries, La Vie éco reports.
The summit, organized by the Pacific Chamber of Commerce under the theme “Global Trends: Technology and Business,” brought together women leaders, entrepreneurs and experts from across the region to discuss female leadership, innovation and sustainable development.
The event’s first day featured a networking reception for senior executives, designed as a meeting space for entrepreneurs, business leaders, officials, diplomatic corps members, regional institution representatives and media, distinguished by a Moroccan touch that included a traditional tea ceremony and a photo exhibition reflecting the richness and diversity of Moroccan culture. In her remarks, summit president and the Pacific Chamber of Commerce’s regional director for international relations, Diana María Olaya, highlighted the challenges facing organizations promoting female leadership, and praised Morocco’s support for the regional summit, which, she said, aims to strengthen cooperation and partnership opportunities at the regional and international levels.
Aurelio Barrea Pino, president of Panama’s Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, expressed gratitude to Morocco for its support of the event, highlighting the country’s economic and tourism assets. The event also featured the presentation of the summit’s 2026 awards, with tribute paid to Morocco’s ambassador to Panama, Bouchra Boudchiche, who underscored the importance of such platforms for strengthening Morocco-Panama relations and creating new opportunities between Africa and Latin America.
During the summit’s second day, Boudchiche highlighted the growing role of artificial intelligence in daily life, noting that rapid technological change, despite the transformations it brings, does not diminish the importance of the human factor as a driver of change and innovation.
The event’s final day, which drew around 650 participants and 50 speakers from Panama and abroad, was devoted to roundtables on the impact of artificial intelligence, innovation and sustainable development on economic models, aimed at launching strategic debates and building new cooperation ties between private-sector actors and Panamanian and regional institutions.
