Water Infrastructure: Morocco Inaugurates $17 Million GRP piping Production Line

Morocco has inaugurated a third production line at Amiblu Maroc, a specialist manufacturer of glass fibre-reinforced polyester (GRP) piping systems, in a $17 million-investment designed to strengthen the country’s industrial capacity in water infrastructure and create more than 300 jobs.

Minister of Industry and Trade Ryad Mezzour presided over the inauguration ceremony at the company’s facility in Nouaceur, alongside Austria’s Ambassador to Morocco Anna Jankovic and a delegation of industrial and local stakeholders. The expansion raises the plant’s annual production capacity to 660 kilometers of piping with an average diameter of DN800, increases the maximum manufacturable pipe diameter to DN3200, and expands fittings production by 25%.

The project also encompasses a testing platform built to international standards, new workshops and industrial facilities, and the planned creation of a GRP Academy due to open in 2027 to support workforce development. The Ministry of Industry and Trade stressed that the facility operates entirely on Moroccan expertise, with engineering, manufacturing, and quality control carried out exclusively by Moroccan teams.

Formerly known as Amitech, Amiblu Maroc specializes in GRP piping systems used in drinking water transmission, seawater desalination, and irrigation projects. The company provides integrated engineering services spanning the full project lifecycle, from design and consulting through to manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.

Minister Mezzour described the new production line as emblematic of Morocco’s broader industrial transformation strategy, linking the investment directly to the kingdom’s national program to build a specialized ecosystem around seawater desalination. He said the project reinforces industrial sovereignty, deepens local integration, and bolsters national water security, while reflecting the renewed confidence of international partners in Morocco’s industrial platform.
