NEA Reports Smooth Start to Egypt’s 2025 Parliamentary Elections
Egypt’s National Elections Authority (NEA) announced on Monday, 10 November 2025, that the first day of voting in the parliamentary elections proceeded smoothly without any reported violations. NEA Executive Director Ahmed Bendary confirmed that all 5,606 subcommittees under 70 main committees across 14 governorates were fully operational, with polling stations remaining open until the last voter cast their ballot. He noted that two medical incidents involving election officials occurred — one in Beheira’s Delengat district and another in Minya — but both were promptly addressed. The NEA also made provisions for elderly and disabled voters, ensuring easy access and assistance at polling centres.
Bendary said the authority’s central operations room had not received any complaints of voter coercion, while minor reports of crowding were being resolved. The first phase of the elections covers 70 constituencies in Giza, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Minya, Assiut, New Valley, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, Red Sea, Alexandria, Beheira, and Marsa Matrouh, where over 35.2 million Egyptians are eligible to vote. The NEA will hold three daily press briefings — at 10am, 4pm, and 9pm — throughout the two-day voting period to ensure transparency and provide updates on voter turnout and polling station operations.
