Tunisia’s Interior Ministry Allocates 6.3 Billion Dinars for 2026, Plans 2,900 New Recruits
Tunisia’s draft State budget for 2026 has earmarked approximately 6,304.8 million dinars for the Ministry of Interior, reflecting a 5 percent increase — or 309 million dinars more — than in 2025. According to a report presented during the parliamentary session of the Defense, Security, and Legal Affairs Committees, the ministry’s expenditure breakdown includes 4,160.8 million dinars for salaries, 374.9 million dinars for operating costs, 1,323.7 million dinars for intervention expenses, and 380.35 million dinars for investments.
The ministry’s operations will be carried out under five key programmes: National Security (2,459.3 million dinars), National Guard (1,664.5 million dinars), Civil Protection (373.65 million dinars), Local Affairs (1,132.06 million dinars), and Command and Support (610.31 million dinars).
Investment spending is set to rise significantly by 57 percent in 2026, focusing on acquiring vehicles and specialised equipment, building new police and guard facilities, and strengthening forensic and technical capacities. The Ministry also announced plans to recruit 2,900 new officers next year — 1,000 for National Security, 1,500 for the National Guard, and 400 for Civil Protection — as part of efforts to reinforce Tunisia’s security apparatus and enhance the overall efficiency of its internal operations.
